Shopping in Deal

Deal’s central shopping centre is a compact area of High Street and some side streets leading off a short distance. The main part is pedestrianised and all is within easy walking distance. There are two supermarkets adjacent to the town centre but a full range of independent butchers, bakers, greengrocers, and fishmongers offer an alternative for fresh produce. Many national retailers like Marks & Spencer and W H Smith who are not interested in towns with a larger population recognise the attractions of Deal and are in the pedestrianised area, but there are still over 100 local traders amongst and beyond them offering a vast range of useful, specialist and unique items to purchase. The north end of High Street beyond the town hall is especially strong on antique and gift shops. Deal has a particularly wide range of shops offering goods with which to beautify the interior of your home from paint to pictures, fabric to furniture and carpet to curtains.

A farmers market selling local produce is held in the undercroft of the town hall on Wednesday mornings.

Main car parks are Middle Street, West Street and Union Road and there is limited on street parking, some of which is free. You can pay by mobile phone in most car parks and top up if you need more time. The supermarket car parks require cash but this will be refunded in store against a qualifying spend.

Help the environment. Please refuse a plastic carrier bag if you don’t need one.
